カナダ、トロントでの都道府県人会について

1902年8月2日、日本人移住者がバンクーバーで増え始めた頃、カナダで初めての県人会が組織されました。「バンクーバー広島クラブ」から約120年、県人会や同郷同好会は、日系人移民の生活に欠かせない大事なコミュニティの繋がりとして発展してきました。

移住の形態や移民の数は変わっても、同じ「クニモノ」との繋がりは、今もなお大切にされ続けています。

トロント都道府県人会連合会は2022年に発足し、戦前、戦中、戦後日本人移民から、新移住者、そして新世紀移民まで、日系人移民同士、また日系外のコミュニティの仲間とも、日本文化を通して、強い絆を育み、次世代へとつなげようと取り組んでいます。

About Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association

On August 2, 1902, when the number of Japanese immigrants in Vancouver began to increase, the first prefectural association in Canada was organized. Nearly 120 years since the formation of the "Vancouver Hiroshima Club," prefectural associations and regional affinity groups have developed as vital connections in the lives of Japanese immigrants, serving as important community ties.

While the forms of migration and the number of immigrants may have changed, the connection to the common "home" (Kunimono) continues to be cherished to this day.The Toronto Prefectural Association.

Since 2022, the Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association, spanning from pre-war to wartime and post-war Japanese immigrants to new settlers and immigrants of the new century, strives to foster strong bonds among Japanese immigrants and with communities beyond the Japanese diaspora through Japanese culture. They aim to pass these connections on to the next generation.

トロント県人会連合会は、宮崎、滋賀、千葉県人会会長が長年あたためてきた思いをもとに、2022年、原初代会長の呼びかけにより設立されました。
2025年、トロント県人会連合会には、世代を超えて受け継がれてきたさまざまな形の県人会が存在します。長く活動を続ける会もあれば、一時途絶えてから復活した会、新しく誕生した会もあります。戦前、戦後を通し、日本からカナダへと移り住んだ多くの人々が築き上げた県人会の伝統を継承しつつ、世代を超えて交流し共に歩む場となっています。
私たちの活動の中心は、ふるさと紹介、日本文化・日本語の継承、郷土史の共有、姉妹都市交流などです。ひとつの県人会だけでは実現が難しい取り組みを、互いに尊重し合い、支え合いながら広げています。
トロント県人会連合会の使命は、日系コミュニティのみならず、カナダ、日本、そして世界の人々や団体と広く結びつき、文化とコミュニティを育むことにあります。私たちは、その精神を世代から世代へとつなぎ、未来へと発展させていくことを願っています。

Message from the Team

The Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association was established in 2022, inspired by the long-held vision of the presidents of the Miyazaki, Shiga, and Chiba Kenjinkai, and founded under the leadership of Ms. Hara, as its first president.

In 2025, the Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association embraces a wide variety of prefectural associations that have been passed down across generations. Some have continued their activities over many years, others once came to a halt and were later revived, and still others have been newly established. Carrying forward the traditions built by the many people who immigrated from Japan to Canada before and after the
Second World War, it serves as a place where generations come together to share, connect, and walk forward as one.

Our main activities include introducing our hometowns in Japan, preserving Japanese culture and language, sharing local histories, and promoting sister-city exchanges. By respecting and supporting one another, we can carry out initiatives that would be
difficult for any single Kenjinkai to achieve alone.

The mission of the Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association is to foster culture and community by building connections not only within the Nikkei community, but also with people and organizations across Canada, Japan, and around the world. We are
committed to carrying this spirit forward across generations and to nurturing its growth into the future.
